Windows 365 FAQ
What is it exactly?
Windows 365 is the world’s first Cloud PC that will allow you to securely streams your personalized Windows desktop, apps, settings, and content from the cloud to any device. A Cloud PC provides customers a virtualized computing experience where you can stream your Windows experience from the Microsoft cloud to any device.
Windows evolves from a device-based operating system (OS) to hybrid personalized computing. Hybrid in the context of the Cloud PC refers to the Windows client operating system. With Windows 365, Windows becomes a “hybrid” local OS and cloud OS. Organizations can choose whether a PC, with its locally installed operating system or a Cloud PC, with its cloud-based operating system, is the best fit for a given user or role in the organization. In some cases, a given user may benefit from having both, using the best tool for the job(s) at hand at the moment. Either way, the evolution of Windows into a hybrid local/cloud OS brings new possibilities to organizations of all sizes.
Why all the rage?
Virtual machines aren’t a new concept (Microsoft’s Azure Virtual Desktop does something similar) but Windows 365 simplifies the process. Business users can go to the Windows365.com site (when it launches), choose from a dozen configurations, and get the ball rolling — no third-party solution needed.

Windows 365 is for organizations of all sizes that need secure and agile hybrid work solutions for elastic workforces, distributed employees or specialized workloads with versatile compute and storage capabilities, accessible on any device.

How is Windows 365 different from Azure Virtual Desktop?
Windows 365 was designed for simplicity, allowing customers to get the benefits of personalized Cloud PCs without requiring VDI or Azure expertise.
