They are the people who decided to simplify the naming process and are in charge of overseeing the roll-out of Wi-Fi 6.
What is Improved?
So, what is so much better about Wi-Fi 6 that warrants the buzz and the renaming? Obviously, the newer version has to be faster. It will be capable of much more efficient data encoding than the previous version. This means a 37% faster peak speed, so with one device connected to a network and no interference it is 37% faster. But speed isn’t even the main improvement of this new version.
Perhaps the biggest improvement about Wi-Fi 6 is its capacity for multiple devices. More data can be transferred at once with the new technology, giving much better performance on crowded networks with multiple devices. Part of the reason is that there are now double the number of spatial streams, previous technology had 4 and there will now be 8. Additionally, the channels for information transmission (how data is transferred from routers to devices) can be divided into sub channels, allowing them to send and receive data simultaneously.
